Speaker Bio
Kent Barnes celebrated nine years of learning nonprofit insurance with Great American in 2020, all in downtown Chicago. His 20-year underwriting and leadership career spans meeting the insurance needs of public entities, tribal operations, transit districts, small business, and nonprofit entities. Kent is passionate about learning and is currently working through the Commercial Risk Management designation, with prior completion of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Certified Insurance Counselor, and MBA programs. He lives in the Chicago suburbs with his wife, Lisa, and three kids—Gavin, Eldon, and Clara. Kent enjoys competing in endurance sports, with several half marathons, one marathon, and a triathlon competed. Kent is also a 2019 graduate of NRMC’s Risk Leadership Certificate Program.
